# Your notifications

Your notifications inbox and email preferences help you keep track of what's happening across your infrastructure, without digging through every server or service. This article is for anyone who wants to control what they're notified about, and how.

## Overview

- The notifications bell gives you a running, in-app list of events across your infrastructure — server changes, backup activity, domain updates, and more.
- Your Notifications settings let you choose which of these events also get sent to you by email, and in what format.
- These are personal settings — they control what *you* see and receive, separately from how your organisation routes alerts to the wider team.

## Set your email notification preferences

1. Go to your Profile, then select Notifications.
2. Review the list of email notifications available and choose which ones you'd like to receive.
3. Set your preferred email format, if options are shown.
4. Select Save changes to apply your choices.

> This screen controls emails sent to *you personally*. It's separate from Alerts and Destinations, which controls where your organisation's alerts are routed. See the Alerts and destinations article for that setup.

## Check your notifications inbox

1. Select the notifications bell icon from anywhere in InfraNest.
2. Browse the list of recent events, such as server changes, backup activity, or domain updates.
3. Select Mark as read on an individual item once you've seen it, or select Mark all read to clear the whole list.
4. Select an item to Open the related item — for example, a server, domain, or monitor — directly from the notification.
5. Use View all notifications to see your full notification history, or Unread only to filter down to items you haven't read yet.

## Tips

> If your inbox is getting noisy, start by trimming things down in Notifications under your Profile — you can turn off email types you don't need without affecting what shows up in your in-app bell icon.
