An EPP Code, also known as an Auth Code, AuthInfo code, or transfer key, is a domain-specific authorization credential distinct from your registrar account login. It proves you own or control a domain when transferring it to another domain registrar or performing certain registrant-authorization actions.
The EPP Code is defined in the Extensible Provisioning Protocol (EPP) standard, the backend protocol used by domain registries and registrars worldwide. When you initiate a domain transfer, the new registrar requests this code from your current registrar. You must provide it to unlock the domain for transfer—without it, the transfer is blocked at the registry level.
