Manage Namecheap domains, DNS and certificates from one place

Domains, DNS records and certificate expiry, all tracked in InfraNest without the Namecheap login

Connect Namecheap and your domains, DNS zones and certificates show up in InfraNest automatically, no manual entry required.

  • Domains — see expiry dates, nameservers and lock state for every domain, and renew, transfer, update contacts, set up WHOIS privacy or lock transfers without opening Namecheap.
  • DNS — your existing zones are found and brought in automatically, and you can create, edit and delete A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, URL, URL301 and FRAME records from InfraNest, with the change sent straight to Namecheap.
  • Certificates — certificates on your Namecheap account appear in your certificate list, with expiry tracked alongside everything else.
  • Alerts on change — get notified when a domain is close to expiring, a certificate is weak, expired or unexpectedly changed, DNS records change outside InfraNest, or a domain's status, DNSSEC or spam-list status changes.

What you can do

Once Namecheap is connected, this is what InfraNest can do with it.

  • Domains, DNS zones and certificates synced automatically
  • Renew, transfer and manage domains without the Namecheap console
  • DNS records created, edited and deleted from InfraNest
  • Alerts for expiring domains, weak certificates and DNS changes
  • Spend on domains, DNS and certificates tracked in one place

Not supported

InfraNest can't register a brand-new domain through this connection — that still happens on the Namecheap website. It also doesn't manage cloud resources through Namecheap, since Namecheap isn't connected for that.

How to connect it

  1. 1

Turn on API access in Namecheap

Get your API username and key ready, and approve InfraNest's IP address — in Namecheap under Profile → Tools → API Access.

  2. 2

    Choose what to manage

Pick which of Domains, DNS and Certificates you want InfraNest to handle for this account.

  3. 3

    Connect with your API key

Enter your API username and key, check the whitelisted IP matches what you approved, then select Connect.

That’s it — Namecheap is connected.

Full setup guide

Set up with AI

I use Namecheap, and I want to connect it to InfraNest (infranest.io) — it manages domains, DNS, servers and certificates across providers. InfraNest asks for: API username and key. Walk me through creating that in Namecheap: where each setting is in the current interface, whether a read-only option exists, and how to check it works before I paste it in.

What syncs

What InfraNest keeps in sync with Namecheap.

MCP server

Namecheap in Claude and ChatGPT

Connect your AI assistant to InfraNest and ask about your Namecheap account in plain words, next to every other provider you use. It reads, and acts only when you allow it.

  • Which of my Namecheap domains expire in the next 60 days?
  • Where does shop.example.com point, and did anything change there this week?
  • Which certificates expire this month, and does anything renew them?

Questions

#Will this find my existing DNS zones automatically?

Yes. Once connected, your existing Namecheap zones are discovered and imported without any manual setup. You can start editing records right away.

#What happens when I edit a single DNS record?

Namecheap doesn't let a single record change on its own, so saving one record sends the whole updated list of records back to Namecheap. The end result is the same record change you intended — this is just how Namecheap's side works.

#What can InfraNest change in my Namecheap account?

With this connection, InfraNest can renew and transfer domains, update nameservers, contacts and WHOIS privacy, manage transfer locks and DNSSEC, and create, edit or delete DNS records — all reflected back in your actual Namecheap account.

#What happens if my API key stops working?

If Namecheap refuses the key or access is revoked, InfraNest will flag the connection as failing and pause the affected features until you update the credentials. Your existing domain, DNS and certificate data stays in InfraNest, but nothing new syncs until it's fixed.

#What do I need before connecting Namecheap?

You need API access turned on in your Namecheap account, your API username and key, and InfraNest's IP address approved in your Namecheap Whitelisted IPs — see the setup guide.

#Is there a Namecheap MCP server?

Yes, through InfraNest. Once Namecheap is connected, InfraNest’s MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and other assistants read your domains, DNS records and certificates at Namecheap, together with every other provider you use. It works on every plan, including Free.
