InfraNestInfraNest

The DNSControl alternativeDNSControl needs a config file and a terminal. InfraNest gives your whole team one screen.

DNSControl and octoDNS are DNS as code: great if everyone who touches DNS writes code. InfraNest edits records at every provider from one screen in the browser, shows a preview before anything changes, and warns you the moment someone changes a record somewhere else. Your code can still use the API.

All 13 zones match what the internet answers

Checked continuously against public resolvers. You hear from us when one stops matching — not when you next think to look.

In short

  • One screen for every DNS provider, usable by anyone on the team.
  • On Pro and Business, InfraNest warns you as soon as a record is changed somewhere else.

Why teams choose InfraNest over DNSControl

The whole team can use it

No JavaScript file, no git, no command line. Support, account managers and engineers work in the same screen.

Changes are caught as they happen

On Pro and Business, a record changed in a provider’s own panel is flagged right away, not the next time someone runs a tool.

The same safety, without a terminal

Every change shows a preview of exactly which records will be written, and every change is in the audit log with who made it.

More than DNS

Monitoring, certificates, servers and firewalls in the same account, next to the records they depend on.

Which plan fits you

Switching is easy

Nothing moves: your zones stay at your DNS providers. InfraNest reads them as they are.

  1. 1

    Connect your DNS providers

InfraNest finds your zones and records by itself.

  2. 2

    Compare with your config

The records you see are the live ones, so a quick look tells you whether your config file and reality still agree.

  3. 3

    Work in InfraNest

Make changes in the editor or through the API, and retire the config file when you are ready.

Good to know

Want every DNS change reviewed in git?
That is what DNSControl and octoDNS are built for. InfraNest’s API can be called from your CI too, on Pro and up.
Using an unusual DNS provider?
DNSControl supports a long list of providers. See the integrations page for the ones InfraNest connects to.

Questions

#Can InfraNest replace DNSControl?

For most teams, yes: you edit records at every provider from one screen, see a preview before each change, and every change is in the audit log. If you want every change reviewed in git, DNSControl fits that better.

#What about octoDNS?

octoDNS is the same idea as DNSControl: DNS as code, with records in config files that you sync from the command line. InfraNest is for teams who want a screen everyone can use, and warnings when something changes.

#Can I still manage DNS from code?

Yes. The REST API and webhooks are on Pro and up, so scripts and CI can create and change records too.

#Will I know if someone changes a record by hand?

Yes, on Pro and Business. A record changed in a provider’s own panel is flagged right away, with the old and new value side by side.

#Does InfraNest show what will change before it changes?

Yes. Every change, including applying a template, shows a preview of exactly which records will be written, and flags anything it would replace.

#Can I move a zone to another DNS provider?

Yes, on Pro and up. InfraNest reads the records your domain answers with today and creates the zone at the new provider.

#Do I have to move my DNS?

No. Your zones stay at your DNS providers; InfraNest edits them where they are.

#Is there a free plan?

Yes: 10 domains and their DNS, 20 monitors and a status page. No credit card, and it does not expire.

DNSControl is a trademark of its owner; InfraNest is not affiliated with it. The DNSControl column comes from their public pricing and product pages, checked October 2026. Prices exclude VAT. Spotted something out of date? Tell us and we will correct it.
