InfraNestInfraNest

The No-IP alternativeDynamic DNS on your own domain. Free, and your firewall follows too.

No-IP and DuckDNS give you a name on their domain. InfraNest keeps the records on your own domain pointing at your changing IP, at the DNS provider you already use. It also updates your cloud firewall rules, so you are never locked out of your own servers, and it tells you when your router stops checking in.

Whitelist this IP in a firewall rule (e.g. allow SSH from your home IP). Only your entry is updated — other IPs in the rule are left untouched. It follows the IP your client reports (public addresses only), and every change is alerted.

A firewall target changes who can reach your servers (e.g. SSH). Check the rule and IP version carefully — you are responsible for the result; InfraNest accepts no liability for lockouts or exposure.

Your router reached us 1m and everything worked.

One connection, the records and firewall rules it keeps up to date, and when it last checked in.

In short

  • Your own domain, on every plan including Free. No No-IP or DuckDNS address needed.
  • Your cloud firewall rules follow your IP as well, so SSH from home keeps working.
  • Nothing to install: your router’s built-in dynamic DNS talks to InfraNest directly.

Why people choose InfraNest over No-IP

Your own domain, free

home.yourdomain.com instead of yourname.no-ip.org. InfraNest updates the record at the DNS provider you already use.

Your firewall follows too

Allow-rules at your cloud provider move with your IP. Only the entry InfraNest wrote is changed; the rest of the rule is left alone.

Told when it stops

Two days without a check-in and you get one alert, before your name points at an address that is no longer yours.

Nothing to install

Works with the dynamic DNS your router already has: FRITZ!Box, UniFi, Synology, OPNsense, pfSense or ddclient.

Good to know

Do not own a domain?
InfraNest works with your own domain. You can register one at any registrar and manage it in InfraNest right away.
Need lots of hostnames?
One InfraNest connection can update as many records as you like, so you rarely need more than a few.

Questions

#Can InfraNest replace No-IP?

Yes, if you have your own domain. InfraNest keeps A and AAAA records at your DNS provider following your IP, and it also updates your cloud firewall rules.

#Is there a free No-IP alternative for my own domain?

Yes. The InfraNest free plan includes one connection on your own domain. With No-IP your own domain needs a paid plan, from $3.49 a month.

#What about DuckDNS?

DuckDNS is free, but it gives you a duckdns.org name. For your own domain you have to add a CNAME to it, and it does not pick up IPv6 by itself. InfraNest updates the A and AAAA records on your own domain directly.

#Can I use ddclient with InfraNest?

Yes. ddclient speaks dyndns2, and so does InfraNest, so ddclient can send your IP to InfraNest instead of to No-IP. There is a ready-made ddclient setting in the setup page.

#Does it work with my router?

Very likely. InfraNest speaks dyndns2, the dynamic DNS your router already has. There are ready-made settings for FRITZ!Box, UniFi, Synology, OPNsense, pfSense and ddclient.

#Do I need my own domain?

Yes. InfraNest updates records on a domain you own, at the DNS provider you already use. That is the point: home.yourdomain.com instead of someone else’s address.

#Does it support IPv6?

Yes. It keeps both A (IPv4) and AAAA (IPv6) records up to date.

#Will I know if it stops working?

Yes. After two days without a check-in the connection turns amber and you get one alert, so your name never quietly points at an old address.

#Can it open my firewall to my home IP?

Yes. Tick “Track with a Dynamic IP” on a firewall rule and the allow-entry follows your address. Only that one entry is ever changed.

No-IP is a trademark of its owner; InfraNest is not affiliated with it. The No-IP column comes from their public pricing and product pages, checked October 2026. Prices exclude VAT. Spotted something out of date? Tell us and we will correct it.
