Create a Namecheap API key

To connect Namecheap, InfraNest needs API access turned on, your API credentials, and InfraNest's IP address approved.

Create a Namecheap API key so InfraNest can manage your domains, DNS, and other Namecheap features on your behalf.

#Overview

  • InfraNest needs three things from Namecheap before it can connect: API access turned on, your API credentials, and InfraNest's IP address approved.
  • You'll do most of this from the Namecheap dashboard, then finish the connection back in InfraNest.

#Turn on API access and get your key

  1. Sign in to Namecheap.

  2. Go to Profile → Tools → API Access.

  3. Enable API access. Namecheap may first require a minimum balance or spend on your account before it allows this.

  4. Copy your API key. Your API username is your Namecheap username.

#Approve InfraNest's IP address

Namecheap only accepts API requests from approved IP addresses, so you'll need to add InfraNest's address to your allow list.

  1. On InfraNest's Namecheap connect form, find the exact address labeled Allow this IP at the provider: …. The same address is already filled into the Whitelisted IP field — copy it.

  2. On the same API Access page in Namecheap, add the address to Whitelisted IPs and save.

NoteNamecheap also offers a sandbox for testing. Most people should use their normal account — only an admin can connect a sandbox account.

#Next step

Go back to InfraNest and follow Connect Namecheap to enter your username and key and confirm the IP.
