The "needs you" email

Every so often InfraNest emails a short list of things that won't sort themselves out. Most weeks it doesn't email at all — and that's deliberate.

The "needs you" email is a short, occasional message that tells you which unresolved issues in InfraNest are waiting on a person to act — it's for anyone who owns or watches over a workspace's domains, certificates, integrations, or sites.

Overview

  • It lists things InfraNest is still watching that won't fix themselves without you.
  • Most weeks it doesn't arrive at all, and that's by design — no news is genuinely good news here.
  • It only covers issues that are still unresolved a while after they first appeared, not new problems as they happen.

What it includes

  • A domain expiring soon with auto-renew switched off — nothing is going to renew it for you.
  • A certificate expiring soon that InfraNest doesn't renew for you.
  • An integration that's been refusing requests for a few days — everything behind it is quietly going out of date.
  • A site still down that nobody has acknowledged.

How it's different from an alert

You already got an alert when each of these problem started — the day a domain hit 30 days out, the moment a site went down. This email is about what's still true a while later.

An alert says something changed. This email says nobody's acted on it yet.

When it arrives

  1. InfraNest checks whether anything new has joined the list of unresolved issues.
  2. If you've fixed some things but not all, you won't hear from us again — the list only got shorter.
  3. If something else goes wrong, that counts as new, so you'll get an updated list.
  4. If nothing is on the list at all, no email goes out. That's the normal state, and it's why an email from this address is always worth opening.

NoteThere's a minimum of a few days between these emails, so a problem that keeps flickering on and off won't email you every morning.

Turn it off

  1. Go to My Profile → Notifications.
  2. Find the Workspace digests section.
  3. Locate the switch called Needs you.
  4. Set it to Off to stop receiving it.

You can also use the unsubscribe link at the foot of the email — it does the same thing.

NoteThis only affects you. Your colleagues will keep getting their own "needs you" emails unless they turn theirs off too.

Turning off the switch also stops the matching notification inside the app, so you'll stop hearing about this entirely through either channel.

Tips

  • This email goes to workspace owners by default. Anyone else who wants it can switch Needs you to On for themselves in the same My Profile → Notifications screen.
  • It's available on every plan, including free. Issues that put your own domains and sites at risk aren't something InfraNest holds back.
