If your domain's name ever got tied to spam, mail filters may start treating all your email as spam too — newsletters, invoices, even a plain reply with your website in the signature. This article is for anyone who wants to understand how InfraNest watches for that and what to do if it happens.
#Overview
- InfraNest checks every domain you hold against a well-known spam-domain list that many mail filters rely on, so you find out before your customers stop getting your mail.
- A new domain is checked within minutes of being added, then weekly on paid plans and monthly on the Free plan.
- While a domain is listed, it's checked again every day until it clears.
#What we check
- When you add a domain, InfraNest looks it up right away.
- After that, it's checked on a schedule — weekly on paid plans, monthly on the Free plan.
- If a domain ever shows up on the list, checks switch to once a day until it's removed.
The domain's Protection card always shows the result on its Spam lists line: Not on a spam list or On a spam list ({lists}). Hover it to see when it was last checked. Google's own phishing and malware check appears beside it, on the Scams and viruses line.
#Respond to a listing
- Watch for On a spam list ({lists}) under Needs your attention — it appears on the Domains overview, on the domain's own page, and on Home.
- Check your alert destinations. You'll get one alert through whichever channel you use for domain alerts — email, chat, or PagerDuty.
- Find out where the spam came from. It's usually one of: a hacked page on your website, a contact form being abused, or a mail account with a leaked password.
- Fix the cause — remove the hacked pages, protect the form, or change the password.
- Ask the list to remove your domain using its free removal form at admin.uribl.com. If you ask before the cause is actually gone, the domain is usually listed again.
- While the domain is listed, use the Check button on the Spam lists line of its Protection card to ask again right away — this works once a day per domain.
- Watch for the follow-up alert confirming removal; once it arrives, the finding disappears from Needs your attention.
#Automate your response
- Go to Automations.
- Create an automation using the Domain on a spam list trigger to act the moment a domain is listed — for example, open a support ticket or post to a chat channel.
- Create a second automation using the Domain off the spam list trigger to close that ticket or post a resolved message once the domain is cleared.
NoteThis spam-list check is separate from Google's phishing and malware warning, which has its own Scams and viruses line. See "When Google flags your domain as unsafe."
TipA domain only gets judged by results from after you added it to InfraNest, so don't expect historical spam listings to show up retroactively.
#Troubleshooting
- I don't see any spam-list information at all. This check only runs once your InfraNest administrator has switched it on. Ask them to enable it in Settings.
- I cleaned things up but the domain still shows as listed. Listings aren't removed automatically — you need to submit the removal request yourself at admin.uribl.com, then use Check to confirm.
